The 2023 World Series of Poker (WSOP) is less than a week away, and right now players are filled with high hopes. If all goes according to plan, they’ll head out to Las Vegas and make a poker fortune, but if you’re so fortunate, remember big scores come with big responsibilities, primarily taxes!
We asked our friends over at Kondler & Associates, the premier poker tax specialists, for things players may want to remember at the 2023 WSOP. President and Owner Ray Kondler, CPA, offered his expertise below.

With a K?A?9? flop out, the turn came the 8? and Dave Thurston bet 30,000. He was called by Robert Capote in the hijack.
The river was the 8? and Thurston quickly bet again, putting out 155,000. The at-risk Capote went into the tank and after some pained expressions eventually called.
Both players turned over an ace and shared the spoils.

Quinn Ledvina moved all-in for his remaining 87,000 from middle position. He received a call from a player in late position followed by an all-in from the player in the small blind for just over Ledvina's stack. The player in late position called, covering both players.
Quinn Ledvina: A?10?
Middle Position: 10?10?
Late position: J?J?
Ledvina was in bad shape against the two pocket pairs but the board ran out 6?2?8?2?A?. The ace on the river was good for a triple up and Ledvina scooped a decent pot.

The pot was about 100,000 and the small blind held A?8?.
The board ran out 3?3?10?9?6? and Muschetto's kicker played, knocking out the player in the small blind and giving Muschetto a healthy stack right before the dinner break.
