Abrams Leads Final 27, Negreanu in the Mix for WSOP Omaha Glory
Scott Abrams will try to go wire-to-wire in Event #21: $1,500 Mixed Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better as he attempts to lay claim to his first WSOP bracelet, but other Omaha and mixed game wizards including Daniel Negreanu, Dylan Linde and Ari Engel will all be out to stop him.
Abrams (1,675,000) took the chip lead into Day 2, and while sitting in the upper tier of the chip counts most of the day, it wasnt until a rush in the late levels that he regained the chip lead for good to enter Day 3.
Negreanu was right among the chip leaders near the end of the day until a massive pot in the final half-hour saw Jordan Spurlin (1,370,000) cut into Negreanus stack. The six-time WSOP bracelet winner will take a slightly below-average stack (535,000) into play, but after a rollercoaster Day 2 that saw him spin up a short stack a couple of times, Negreanu must still like his chances for bracelet number seven.
Linde (470,000) and Engel (305,000) will enter play Tuesday on the lower half of the leaderboard, but both players are more than qualified to run their stacks up. As is Ryan Laplante, but with just 119,000 in his stack after also being on the wrong end of Spurlins huge pot, the two-time bracelet winner will need to do some work quickly to get back into contention.
Hernan Salazar (1,230,000), Ryan Roeder (1,005,000), and Charles Coultas (985,000) round out the top five chip counts entering play, and besides Negreanu, Team GG Poker will also be represented by well-known streamer Patrick Egption Tardif (410,000) who remains in the mix.
The final 27 will play down to a winner beginning at 2:00 p.m. local time, with the top spot laying claim to $170,269 and the WSOP gold bracelet.
