Triton Super High Roller Montenegro HKD $1,000,000 Short Deck Ante-Only Event Set to Start
The big buy-in high stakes tournament action at the 2018 Triton Super High Roller Montenegro is not restricted to the Main Event, with the HKD $1-million Short Deck Ante Only Event set to start at 4pm local time.
Taking places the luxurious Maestral Resort & Casino in Budva, Montenegro, this is only the second ever time the exciting new Short Deck Ante Only format has been run as a tournament, with the HKD $250,000 (~$31,850) opening event, which Phil Ivey took down for USD $604,992, being the first.
Compared to regular No-Limit Hold'em, this format features a 36-card deck with the 2s, 3s, 4s, and 5s removed, with aces doubling as a five instead. With just 36 cards instead of 52, straights become more common, while flushes are a rare sight. In order to adjust for this, the hand ranking chart has been updated and a flush beats a full house.
There's are no blinds; instead, the game is played ante-only, with the button posting a double ante. All players start with 100,000 in chips, plus two extra 100k bullets to be added at any time.
Day 1 of the two-day event will feature seven 60-minute levels with multiple re-entry available during the registration period, which closes at the end of the 15-minute dinner break on level nine, at around 3pm on Friday, 18 May.
With players of the caliber of Phil Ivey, Tom Dwan, Patrik Antonius, Dan jungleman12 Cates, Mikita Badziakouski and Triton Poker founder Richard Yong just some of the big names expected to attend, the action will be epic, as will the prize pool.
