It was a quick preflop battle that led to the all-in and call over on table seven. Brandon Mifsud was the player at risk versus Miguel Faria and they flipped for an above-average stack.
Brandon Mifsud: 5?5?
Miguel Faria: A?K?
The overcards hit on the A?J?4?10?9? board and Mifsud quickly headed out of the tournament area.
Shakhabiddin Muradov raised to 2,000 under the gun before Boris Kolev three-bet to 6,000 from middle position. Rafael Navas Robles then called cold from the cutoff and Imad Derwiche jammed all in for 35,000 on the button.
Muradov quickly folded, after which Kolev stuck in a call. Navas Robles got out of the way as well and the two players showed down.
Boris Kolev: A?K?
Imad Derwiche: A?K?
Both played Big Slick, but the 2?5?7? flop gave Kolev a flush draw. The 6? turn bricked out, but the J? river gave Kolev his flush and eliminated Derwiche from the Main Event on his second and final bullet.
Kolev, meanwhile, crossed the 200,000-chip mark by winning this pot and became one of the biggest stacks in the room.
Stanislav Tishkevich raised to 2,000 from middle position and Julien Stropoli made the call from the cutoff. Joao Sydenstricker then went all in for his 4,900 chips, after which Tishkevich rejammed to force Stropoli to fold.
Joao Sydenstricker: A?9?
Stanislav Tishkevich: A?Q?
Sydenstricker could not perform a miracle on the 3?J?A?10?8? runout and was consequentially eliminated from the tournament.
In a preflop all-in contest, Brandon Mifsud and Daniel Custodio got their chips into the middle with near even stack sizes.
Daniel Custodio: 8?8?
Brandon Mifsud: 9?9?
The superior pair hit a set on the K?Q?9? flop and Mifsud locked up the pot with the 5? turn to make the 2? river a formality. Both stacks were counted and the 25,300 of Custodio were covered.
Manuel Roca opened to 1,700 from middle position before Sebastien Guinand three-bet to 5,500 from the hijack. Roca called.
Roca check-called for 4,500 on the A?J?9? flop and then check-folded to a bet of 17,000 on the 7? turn.
As that hand finished, a sizeable pot was brewing on the table behind.
With around 28,000 in the middle on the K?3?A?K?8? board, Teddy Tuil bet 3,500 from the small blind. Rayan Mokhtar raised to 18,000 from the big blind which sent Henok Tekle Mariam into the tank. Mariam eventually found the fold and Tuil also released his cards.
The following hand, Tuil opened to 2,000 from the button and called when Mohamed Aissani moved all in for 7,200 from the big blind.
Mohamed Aissani: K?9?
Teddy Tuil: K?Q?
Tuil's superior king remained best and Aissani was eliminated after the 10?4?3?8?2? runout.
With plenty of chips in the middle to the Q?10?6?6?10?, Sergi Reixach pushed all in and Pavlos Xanthopoulos instantly called. Reixach tabled the A?Q? but it was no good, as Xanthopoulos had turned trips and rivered a full house with the A?6?.
"Flop was check, check, and he check-raised the turn. No wait, I can't remember," Ian Bradley mentioned and then asked Xanthopoulos, who replied "no, he bet the flop."
