Only a few days remain for the 2024 PokerStars European Poker Tour (EPT) hosted by Casino Barcelona. While the Main Event is already on Day 5, down to 40 players from a field of 1,975, another prestigious tournament, the €10,300 EPT High Roller, is set to begin today at 12:30 p.m. local time.
Ka Kwan Lau overcame a field of 475 runners in this event last year, taking home €910,400 after a dominant final table performance. Other players at that final table included Vladas Tamasauskas and Alexandre Reard.

Day 1 kicks off at 12:30 p.m. local time. Players begin with 50,000 chips, and the blinds will start at 100/200 with a 200 big blind ante. The first day will feature ten 60-minute levels. Only two entries are allowed, and late registration will close at the start of Day 2. One reentry is permitted, and there will be a short break after every two levels, with a 75-minute dinner break after Level 6 at approximately 7:10 p.m.
Shot clocks will be implemented from the start, with each player receiving four time banks. Players will have 15 seconds to act on their first decision and then 30 seconds to act on each subsequent decision in that hand. Players seated at the first hand of every odd blind level will receive an extra time bank.

Heads-up on a flop of 10?7?J?, Derk van Luijk bet 300 from the button before Mihails Nikitins raised to 900 in the big blind. Van Luijk called and they saw the 4? fall on the turn.
Nikitins then bet 1,600 and Van Luijk again called. The river was the 4? and Nikitins fired out 3,100. Van Luijk quickly folded and Nikitins took the early pot.

Derk van Luijk and Artsiom Lasouski built a pot of around 8,000 as they went heads-up to the J?9?2? blind versus blind. Lasouski then bet 3,600, Van Luijk raised to 12,000, and Lasouski called.
The turn was the 2? and Van Luijk moved all in for 30,000. Lasouski gave it some thought but eventually folded as Van Luijk took down the big pot.

Zaki Hamani opened to 500 from the cutoff and then called after Fahredin Mustafov three-bet to 2,000 from the button.
On the 9?7?3? flop, Mustafov continued for 2,500 and Hamani quickly put in the call.
The J? turn checked through to the 6? river which saw Hamani lead for 10,000. Mustafov snapped it off and got the bad news immediately as Hamani tabled A?7? for a rivered flush and he collected a sizeable pot early in the day.

In a blind versus blind battle and around 7,000 in the pot by the turn on a board of K?Q?9?9?, Mounir Tajiou led out for 6,500 and Joakim Andersson called.
The river was the 6? and Tajiou bet 17,000. Andersson used a time bank before folding as Tajiou took the pot.
