David Peters Wins Same Rock N Roll Poker Open Two Years In a Row
Table Of Contents
David Peters winning a poker tournament isn't exactly groundbreaking news these days; after all, he has two dozen victories listed on Hendon Mob. Now, it seems the poker pro with nearly $30 million in lifetime earnings is finding new ways to make headlines C by going back-to-back to win the same Seminole Hard Rock N Roll Poker Open (RRPO) tournament.
Peters' Latest Victory
On Monday, Peters was down in Florida firing the one-day Event #16: $5,000 NLH 8-Handed, which surpassed its $250K guarantee by drawing 95 runners and generating a $421,250 prize pool.
One notable hand reported via RRPO updates involved William Givens, who raised under the gun and then bet both the flop and turn before jamming the river on an A?9?4?K?J? runout. Peters check-called each street with K?Q? and doubled when Givens showed the 6?5?.
I guess sometimes maybe some guys might not be trying to play too many pots with me or might avoid marginal situations, Peters said after the win. So, I can sometimes take advantage of that. On the flip side, you have some guys that are ready to battle. I dont think any of these guys were scared or anything like that.
Others to cash the tournament but fall short of the final table were Chad Eveslage (9th - $14,318), Mykel Comroe (10th - $13,086), Paul Fisher (11th - $12,184) and Joe McKeehen (12th - $11,290).

Back-to-Back Peters
It marked the second year in a row Peters took down the tournament. In November 2017, he bested a 61-entry field to win the title for $104,309. Not only did he go back-to-back, but he also did it wearing the same shirt!
Isnt that the same shirt you wore last year?! Peters girlfriend asked after the final card was dealt, as reported by Seminole Hard Rock reporters. Yeah, it is. I bought you that shirt.
Peters would add: Its kind of crazy. It was a fun tournament. Im wearing the same sweatshirt and everything. Things went pretty well at the final table early on. Then I lost a bunch of chips and I battled back and it worked out.
Last year, Peters had to defeat Scott Wright in heads-up play to win the title. Heres a look at that final table:
